Ambulatory relief system

The NxStep Weight-Relief System allows partial weight-bearing therapy with open access to the patient. Offloading a percentage of body weight allows for early rehabilitation while providing a safe environment for patient and therapist. Therapists can focus on treating their patients, manually easing the lower extremities.

The NxStep's dynamic one-point suspension accommodates pelvic rotation and vertical movement. This encouragement of good mechanics makes it possible to practice functional gait patterns. When used in combination with the Tracker 3, a full gait training environment with audio cueing and visual biofeedback is possible.

The NxStep unweighting system allows full and partial weight bearing without compromising proper gait kinematics. Depending on walking speed, up to 10cm of vertical displacement is allowed while the system maintains a constant level of relief.

The ability to allow pelvic rotation has its own benefits. Unlike two-point suspension systems that tend to restrict rotation on a horizontal plane, the NxStep's single-point method allows for functional pelvic rotation and versatility when walking, sidestepping, backstepping, and of the turn. Patients can engage in reactive postural control exercises or change direction without repositioning the entire support system.

The unique design of the NxStep offers many advantages. Therapists can see patients from all angles; patients have full visibility of the treadmill screen and the open design allows for natural arm swing, a key element in encouraging neuroplasticity.

While investing in equipment and training is essential to prevent patient falls, it is equally important to protect therapists, rehabilitation nurses, caregivers and visiting family from injury when they attempt to lift or support a patient. Motorized lifting assist devices promote rehabilitation and facilitate functional recovery, while maintaining safe conditions.
